Responsibilities
- Investigate complex technical escalations and lead high-stakes calls for critical customer challenges.
- Develop expertise in Database Monitoring and serve as the technical stakeholder for Postgres, MySQL, and SQL Server Agent integrations.
- Debug advanced Datadog Agent configuration and performance issues and analyze primarily Python-based Agent and integration code.
- Mentor Global Support Engineering through office hours, learning sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Partner with Engineering and Product to identify gaps, propose code, telemetry, and documentation improvements, and advocate for customers.
- Create internal runbooks, public-facing solutions, reusable debugging frameworks, and product-release readiness plans.
Requirements
- Experience debugging Datadog Agent integrations and advanced configuration or performance issues.
- Ability to interpret primarily Python codebases, trace logic paths, and assess behavior in edge-case customer environments.
- Ability to recreate cloud-hosted and self-hosted database environments across RDS, Azure, CloudSQL, Linux, Windows, K8s, and Docker.
- Strong root-cause analysis, systems thinking, experimentation, problem-solving, collaboration, mentoring, and customer-engagement skills.
- Computer Science or Engineering major is a bonus qualification.
- Experience with Zendesk, Jira, Confluence, or similar software is a bonus qualification.
- Familiarity with Datadog, its integrations ecosystem, or similar observability platforms is a strong plus.
