Base Salary
$160k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and ship Java and Kotlin services and product improvements at large scale.
- Investigate production performance and availability issues, identify root causes, and implement lasting reliability improvements.
- Identify application, data-access, and service-interaction bottlenecks and design changes to improve scalability.
- Improve service visibility and observability so issues can be detected, understood, and resolved effectively.
- Participate in design decisions, code reviews, testing, deployment, production troubleshooting, and incident response.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of Java software development experience for product applications or equivalent experience.
- At least 4 years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
- Experience improving the reliability, performance, and scalability of production services.
- Strong object-oriented design skills and experience applying design principles to complex software systems.
- Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development using Jersey or Spring.
- Experience with relational database design and development, including identifying and addressing data-access bottlenecks.
- Experience with asynchronous application design, client-server communication, production troubleshooting, and incident response.
- Strong testing practices and a focus on dependable production software.
- Strong Kotlin experience, Redis experience, and Python experience are preferred or advantageous.
