Base Salary
$180k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and own the data models, services, and APIs for fantasy leagues, rosters, drafts, waivers, trades, matchups, and scoring.
- Scale real-time scoring by ingesting live stat feeds and delivering updates quickly and accurately to millions of rosters and open app sessions.
- Ship product features end to end in collaboration with designers and mobile and web engineers.
- Maintain production health through monitoring, profiling, and capacity planning before seasonal traffic peaks.
- At Staff level, own system architecture, improve design and code review quality, and help engineers ship at scale.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend engineering experience; Staff candidates need at least 8 years and a track record of architectural ownership at scale.
- Experience building and operating consumer products used by millions of users.
- Experience shipping end-to-end product features rather than only infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, data modeling, caching, queues, and real-time fan-out correctness.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Elixir, Go, Java, Python, Rust, or Node.
- Ability to explain technical decisions, tradeoffs, and individual contributions clearly.
- Interest in or familiarity with sports and fantasy sports.
- Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City and work hybrid.
