Base Salary
$160k - $224k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance distributed systems for high availability, scalability, and operability at advertising technology scale.
- Design, build, and scale Scala/Spark pipelines on Databricks for audience computation over billions of identifiers.
- Evolve Audience Builder across attribute ingestion, identity mapping, audience creation, activation, APIs, and ad-platform destinations.
- Model and manage large Delta Lake tables with partitioning, idempotent writes, and scalable reprocessing.
- Optimize the cost and performance of large Spark workloads and low-latency services processing thousands of QPS.
- Define data contracts with the Data Platform team and integrate with the in-house AdRise ad platform.
- Design data models, bitmap encodings, and APIs serving product UIs, analytics, and AI agents.
- Operate partner integrations and own the quality, correctness, and performance of audience sizing and reporting.
- Collaborate with ad operations, data science, and business teams to create activated, revenue-generating audience segments.
- Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and refine operational processes.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building production data or backend systems.
- Strong programming skills in Scala or a strong background in another JVM or functional language.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark or comparable large-scale distributed computing.
- Experience with columnar or lakehouse formats such as Delta Lake, Parquet, or Iceberg, particularly on Databricks.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, partitioning, and performance tuning at scale.
- Experience integrating with external APIs and building reliable batch or streaming pipelines.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with equivalent industry experience; exceptions may be made for exceptional candidates.
