Responsibilities
- Build and operate machine learning systems with Data Scientists from initial design through validated production outcomes.
- Own architecture for feature computation, data and model contracts, prediction serving, training, and retraining.
- Launch models safely using offline evaluation, shadow runs, champion/challenger approaches, and rollback procedures.
- Define automated checks, alerts, and quality standards for healthy ML systems and investigate root causes of failures.
- Partner with MLOps to bring team requirements to the platform and co-own reusable templates and tooling.
- Set engineering standards and orchestrate coding agents across the ML lifecycle, including data preparation, implementation, QA, security, and deployment.
- Collaborate with Data Science, Product, and Engineering and communicate technical trade-offs in business terms.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience shipping and operating machine learning systems in production.
- Strong Python and SQL skills plus proficiency in another language such as Go or Java.
- Experience diagnosing training/serving skew, data leakage, model drift, and silent degradation.
- Ability to design contracts between data, models, and consumers while reasoning about latency, cost, and failure modes.
- Understanding of forecasting, regression, and optimization sufficient to challenge model designs and identify incorrect production behavior.
- Experience with containers, orchestration, CI/CD, model registries, and hands-on work with a major cloud platform, ideally AWS.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience is a plus.
- Fluent English communication skills and ability to collaborate across Data Science, Product, Engineering, and international teams.
