Base Salary
$198k - $323k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ML and LLM development and deployment.
- Architect human-in-the-loop labeling workflows, including task generation, quality control, and feedback integration.
- Develop synthetic data generation, filtering, validation, and augmentation strategies.
- Use LLMs and machine learning techniques to automate data generation, labeling, scoring, and evaluation.
- Measure and mitigate dataset failure modes including bias, contamination, label noise, and distribution shifts.
- Define dataset requirements for fine-tuning, preference learning, and agent development with researchers and ML engineers.
- Provide technical direction on infrastructure, compute, and storage, and mentor engineers through design reviews and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 8+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and 6+ years, or a PhD in STEM or a relevant technical field and 3+ years of industry or academic research experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building, curating, and scaling datasets for machine learning training and evaluation.
- 5+ years of professional programming experience with Python, C++, or Go.
- 5+ years of experience using machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow to develop, train, evaluate, and deploy models.
- Expertise in LLM dataset curation, synthetic data generation, augmentation, SFT, and RLHF is preferred.
- Experience designing human-in-the-loop labeling systems and mitigating dataset failure modes is preferred.
- Experience using LLMs for data generation, model-assisted labeling, and evaluation is preferred.
- Strong foundation in distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark, Ray, or Beam is preferred.
- Ability to bridge research experimentation and production and influence researchers, engineers, and product stakeholders is preferred.

- Hybrid work based out of Cisco’s Seattle or San Jose office.
- Starting salary range of $197,500.00 to $249,800.00, excluding incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.
