Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-throughput Kotlin backend services that handle millions of search queries and orchestrate multiple data sources.
- Manage real-time data flows using Redis, Elasticsearch, and Apache Kafka to optimize search relevance and latency.
- Produce, consume, store, retrieve, and process data at scale in data lake environments.
- Develop APIs and integrate backend services with frontend systems.
- Contribute to scalable, fault-tolerant system architecture and performance optimization.
- Build and maintain React interfaces, including state management, responsive layouts, and frontend performance improvements.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver features from concept through production.
- Set up and maintain continuous integration and deployment processes.
- Troubleshoot backend and frontend issues to minimize downtime and improve user satisfaction.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, best practices, and technical guidance.
- Drive architecture and advocate for valuable emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience, including leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and delivering complex software systems.
- Expertise in Kotlin or Java and experience building and operating scalable production applications.
- Experience with microservices, event-driven systems, RESTful APIs, and large-scale distributed architectures.
- Experience building modern web applications with React and integrating frontend and backend systems.
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, automated testing, and observability tools such as Datadog.
- Strong system design, troubleshooting, performance optimization, monitoring, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence skills.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and frameworks and experience integrating data-driven or machine learning capabilities into production applications.
- Preferred experience in AdTech, including ad servers, DSPs, SSPs, and Real-Time Bidding ecosystems.
- Preferred experience with search, personalization, recommendation, or other large-scale data-driven systems.
- Preferred experience with Elasticsearch, Redis, Kafka, or similar distributed data platforms.
- Preferred experience collaborating with Data Scientists on AI/ML-powered solutions and familiarity with NLP, recommendation engines, or predictive modeling.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through architecture, engineering practices, or technical strategy, plus broader engineering community contributions such as open source, publications, or speaking.
