Responsibilities
- Apply state-of-the-art machine learning to search using deep learning, bandits, transformers, LLMs, causal inference, and optimization techniques.
- Run online A/B tests and analyze results against critical business KPIs.
- Collaborate with U.S. engineering and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Scale and evolve Roku’s machine-learning ecosystem for developer velocity and future business needs.
- Provide technical leadership for the search-ranking and monetization technical and machine-learning roadmaps.
- Help recruit, interview, train, and mentor new engineers.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience applying machine learning to large-scale problems in recommendation, search, advertising, or similar domains, or a PhD with 5 years of experience.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and the ability to convert ideas into code.
- Understanding of classification, deep neural networks, sequence-based models, system architecture, big-data technologies, streaming architecture, and data pipelines.
- Experience with Spark, S3, Airflow, and programming in Java, Scala, or Python.
- Familiarity with modern NLP and multimodal representation learning is a plus.
- A master's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field is required; a PhD in computer science or a related field is preferred.
- AI literacy, curiosity, and experience exploring or using generative AI.
