Base Salary

$200k - $285k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of software features and platform capabilities for BDO Tax products, including Dynamics/ERP and third-party tax and accounting integrations.
  • Provide technical direction for architecture, code structure, scalability, reliability, services, APIs, and user-facing applications.
  • Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, UI components, and product workflows.
  • Build AI-enabled features using LLMs and agent workflows while following responsible AI, governance, safety, and data-protection controls.
  • Establish engineering standards through code reviews, design reviews, and reference implementations.
  • Create reusable libraries, templates, and internal tooling to improve developer productivity.
  • Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end automated testing in partnership with QA.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, release automation, quality gates, security scanning, and environment promotion controls.
  • Implement observability through structured logging, metrics, tracing, and actionable alerting.
  • Perform profiling, capacity-planning support, reliability engineering, and incident root cause analysis.
  • Mentor engineers through pairing, technical coaching, and feedback, and supervise or advise team members as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in a STEM, Finance, or Accounting field is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive software engineering experience delivering enterprise software products is required.
  • At least five years of experience building and maintaining production-grade services and APIs with C#/.NET or Java is required.
  • At least three years of technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, and engineering standards is preferred.
  • At least three years of Agile delivery experience with applied Lean principles and continuous improvement is preferred.
  • At least three years of experience building CI/CD pipelines and release automation is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience developing AI-enabled software using LLMs and agentic workflows, including evaluation and governance-aligned safety controls, is preferred.
  • Experience integrating enterprise platforms and business systems, including Dynamics/ERP, is preferred.
  • Experience delivering tax-domain platforms for Partnership, Direct Tax, or Indirect Tax is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Azure DevOps or GitHub, Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL Database is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Azure, AWS, GCP, OpenAI, Anthropic, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, NoSQL, and multiple programming languages and frameworks is preferred.
  • Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, AZ-900, Microsoft Azure AI Engineer Associate, CSM, or PSM I certification is preferred.
  • Strong secure software development, threat modeling, vulnerability remediation, communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.

  • The national, Maryland, and NYC/Long Island/Westchester salary ranges are $200,000-$285,000.
