Responsibilities
- Drive the technical execution, architecture, and long-term strategy for the federated authentication platform.
- Design and implement core platform features and foundational framework components for use across engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and Principal Engineers on product roadmaps and technical strategy.
- Resolve complex technical challenges involving performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and architectural limitations.
- Identify and advocate for technologies and approaches that advance Okta’s identity platform.
- Write clean, modular, well-tested, and maintainable code.
- Proactively address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other areas for improvement.
- Mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction across multiple teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience, including at least 5 years designing and building complex, enterprise-grade web applications.
- A proven track record of architecting and delivering large-scale, high-impact software projects.
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented language such as Java or C#.
- Experience serving as a technical leader and making high-judgment technical decisions.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and backend architecture, including caching layers, event-driven architectures, and distributed data stores.
- Knowledge of IAM protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, and SAML is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices is a strong plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
