Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize core Linux kernel subsystems such as memory management, scheduling, networking, and filesystems.
- Improve container isolation mechanisms and optimize resource usage across large numbers of virtual machines and containers.
- Collaborate with upstream maintainers to merge patches into the Linux kernel.
- Debug kernel issues using tools such as kprobes, ftrace, perf, and gdb.
- Represent Virtuozzo at conferences including Open Source Summit, FOSDEM, and other Linux Foundation events.
Requirements
- Strong C programming skills and familiarity with low-level systems development.
- Knowledge of at least one Linux kernel subsystem.
- Understanding of syscalls, kernel/user-space interfaces, and Linux internals.
- Experience debugging with tools such as kprobes, ftrace, perf, or gdb.
- Clear English communication skills for code reviews and conference presentations.
- Preferred qualifications include open-source project experience, knowledge of namespaces, cgroups, or KVM, Python scripting experience, and familiarity with container or kernel build pipelines.
