Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize core Linux kernel subsystems such as memory management, scheduling, networking, and filesystems.
  • Improve container isolation mechanisms and optimize resource usage across large numbers of virtual machines and containers.
  • Collaborate with upstream maintainers to merge patches into the Linux kernel.
  • Debug kernel issues using tools such as kprobes, ftrace, perf, and gdb.
  • Represent Virtuozzo at conferences including Open Source Summit, FOSDEM, and other Linux Foundation events.

Requirements

  • Strong C programming skills and familiarity with low-level systems development.
  • Knowledge of at least one Linux kernel subsystem.
  • Understanding of syscalls, kernel/user-space interfaces, and Linux internals.
  • Experience debugging with tools such as kprobes, ftrace, perf, or gdb.
  • Clear English communication skills for code reviews and conference presentations.
  • Preferred qualifications include open-source project experience, knowledge of namespaces, cgroups, or KVM, Python scripting experience, and familiarity with container or kernel build pipelines.
