Responsibilities
- Administer Apigee X organizations, environments, environment groups, instances, and hybrid runtime components deployed on GKE.
- Operate and scale the Apigee X platform through upgrades, patching, capacity planning, autoscaling, and maintenance windows.
- Configure Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud DNS, firewall rules, Cloud Armor/WAF, VPC Service Controls, IAM, RBAC, service accounts, certificates, keystores, and truststores.
- Monitor API and network health using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Apigee Analytics, and define SLOs, SLIs, and alerting policies.
- Design high-availability, multi-region, and disaster recovery strategies for Apigee X.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, latency, DNS, and routing issues across Apigee, backend, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
- Enforce API security policies and manage Terraform-based configuration-as-code and CI/CD deployments.
- Collaborate with network, security, development, and platform engineering teams; lead incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Maintain runbooks, network diagrams, and platform documentation, and mentor engineers on Apigee X, GCP networking, and platform operations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of API or platform engineering experience, including at least 3 years administering Google Apigee X or Apigee hybrid in production.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong knowledge of GCP networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, firewall rules, Private Service Connect, VPC Service Controls, Cloud NAT, and Cloud DNS.
- Hands-on experience with Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud VPN, Cloud Interconnect, GKE administration, IAM, organization policies, and service accounts.
- Experience managing TLS/mTLS, keystores, truststores, certificate lifecycles, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Apigee Analytics.
- Experience with Terraform and CI/CD tools such as Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
- Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, API key management, and basic scripting with Python, Bash, or JavaScript.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred qualifications include Google Cloud Professional Cloud Network Engineer or Apigee API Engineer certification, hybrid or multi-cloud networking experience, Anthos Service Mesh/Istio familiarity, legacy API gateway migration experience, network security tooling experience, and knowledge of Pub/Sub or Kafka.
