Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, high-performance distributed backend services for the platform control plane.
- Develop APIs for centralized management of storage and compute across multi-region hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
- Architect resilient microservices with strong consistency, fault tolerance, high availability, and low latency.
- Design, version, document, govern, and maintain backward-compatible REST/gRPC APIs.
- Build backend systems for provisioning, scaling, upgrades, configuration, and full lifecycle management.
- Implement policy-driven orchestration, Infrastructure-as-Code integrations, RBAC, multi-tenancy, and enterprise self-service capabilities.
- Instrument services with logs, metrics, traces, and events to support observability, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
- Design secure systems with authentication, authorization, encryption, and audit logging while supporting compliance requirements.
- Design for graceful degradation, disaster recovery, seamless upgrades and rollbacks, and minimal or zero downtime.
- Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, engineering best practices, alerting, incident correlation, and root cause analysis.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in backend or distributed systems engineering.
- Strong experience designing and building microservices-based architectures and large-scale distributed systems.
- Proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Go, C++, Java, or Python.
- Experience designing and implementing REST and/or gRPC APIs, including API lifecycle management.
- Deep understanding of distributed-systems concepts including consistency, availability, and partition tolerance.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, containerized environments, and orchestration such as Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of authentication, authorization, encryption, and other security principles.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
- Ability to design secure, reliable, and resilient systems and collaborate across engineering and security teams.
