Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed-system components and optimize large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Build fault-tolerant components using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, recovery-oriented principles, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
- Develop and execute functional, load, performance, fault-injection, and brown-out testing.
- Create alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting systems to detect and address failures proactively.
- Draft and execute runbooks, troubleshoot operational issues, participate in incident response, and conduct root-cause investigations.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts, troubleshooting tools, and Infrastructure as Code for cloud infrastructure.
- Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance, documentation, and change-management practices.
- Track work with minimal supervision, prioritize changing tasks, collaborate across teams, and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing components of distributed systems for scalability, resiliency, and operability.
- Ability to work with distributed state-management tools and data-plane platforms for large-scale retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Experience implementing replication, synchronization, failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, monitoring, alerting, and operational procedures.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve system issues and participate in incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code, security controls, compliance standards, and change management.
- Ability to manage timelines with limited supervision, solve standard and non-standard problems, and collaborate effectively across teams.
