Responsibilities
- Write functional, design, and test-plan specifications for routing protocol features.
- Implement routing protocol software and automated test programs using C, C++, and Python.
- Debug and fix issues found by automated tests, system tests, and customer networks.
- Collaborate with engineers, customer support, and system test teams to deliver software releases and patches.
- Work on larger routing protocol problems, review peer implementations, and contribute to technical specifications.
- Mentor new and junior engineers and help schedule and report implementation and debugging work.
Requirements
- BE/B.Tech, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of C or C++, UNIX or Linux, IP networking, and IP routing protocols including RIP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, or PIM.
- Hands-on experience designing and developing IP routing protocol or distributed systems software.
- Experience with enterprise or service-provider Ethernet switch/router system software development, or significant PhD-level research in network routing and packet forwarding.
- Applied understanding of software engineering principles and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently design and implement small solutions and contribute to medium-sized problems with limited oversight.
