Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, build, ship, and maintain end-to-end mobile features across native iOS and Android clients, backend services, and APIs.
- Evolve mobile architecture, navigation, state management, modularization, offline behavior, and native versus cross-platform implementation decisions.
- Design and operate backend services supporting identity, content, synchronization, telemetry, and mobile engagement.
- Own reliability targets, observability, performance optimization, security practices, incident response, and post-mortems for owned systems.
- Own mobile release pipelines, staged rollouts, production monitoring, testing strategy, technical debt reduction, and scalability improvements.
- Collaborate with product, design, web/backend engineering, infrastructure, QA, and developer productivity teams.
- Mentor mid-level and associate engineers through pairing, code reviews, and technical guidance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years of production native mobile development on iOS or Android.
- At least one shipped mobile application at meaningful scale with production telemetry and real users.
- Working knowledge of the second mobile platform sufficient to read, review, and contribute to its code.
- Strong backend proficiency in Kotlin or Java on the JVM or TypeScript, with experience designing and operating long-lived backend services.
- Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns including MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, and modularization.
- Deep knowledge of mobile concurrency, lifecycle management, memory, battery usage, networking, persistence, offline-first behavior, and accessibility.
- Solid understanding of HTTP, REST, gRPC, and protobuf.
- Working knowledge of AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines; familiarity with Linkerd, ArgoCD, and Terraform is preferred.
- Knowledge of mobile security fundamentals and experience handling sensitive user data in production.
- Experience with Git, GitHub Actions, collaborative code review, and unit, integration, UI, and instrumentation testing.
- Preferred experience includes production development on both iOS and Android, Kotlin Multiplatform, React Native, Flutter, App Store and Play Console processes, privacy and family-friendly policies, OpenTelemetry, SigNoz, Grafana, Sentry, Crashlytics, EdTech or K-12 privacy requirements, FERPA, COPPA, WCAG, Backstage, internal developer platforms, or relevant open-source contributions.
