Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable components for large distributed systems and data-processing platforms.
- Optimize systems for large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Implement reliability mechanisms including redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
- Develop functional, performance, load, fault-injection, and brown-out tests.
- Build dashboards, telemetry, alerting, runbooks, and operational procedures to monitor system health.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, participate in incident response and root-cause investigations, and support operational rotations.
- Implement security, encryption, access controls, remediation plans, and cloud infrastructure compliance measures.
- Maintain automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools for cloud infrastructure management.
- Track work, collaborate across teams, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous process improvement.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software development experience.
- At least 3 years of experience developing large-scale distributed services or applications.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or C++ and object-oriented programming.
- Excellent knowledge of data structures and search/sort algorithms.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of cloud computing, networking technologies, and monitoring services.
- Experience or knowledge with SNMP, NetFlow, and BGP Monitoring Protocol.
- Experience developing service-oriented systems and automated test suites.
- Exposure to Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Storm, OpenTSDB, Elasticsearch, or other distributed compute platforms.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
