Responsibilities
- Participate in a global engineering and consulting team providing 24-hour customer support.
- Manage customer problems through diagnosis, resolution, or development of investigation tools.
- Consult with Engineering, Sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of Google Cloud networking technologies and internal implementation details.
- Work with product engineering teams on launches, product supportability, and improvements based on customer issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Nine years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customer needs and triaging hardware, software, application, operational, or process issues.
- Experience with Python, shell scripting, or another scripting or coding language.
- Systems experience with Linux, Unix, or a similar operating system.
- Experience with operating system kernels, file systems, and TCP/IP network protocols, including DNS, routing, firewalls, and load balancing concepts.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes or container networking.
- Preferred experience with software-defined networking using public cloud or SDN software.
- Knowledge of network-specific kernel parameters such as TCP keepalives and TCP windows.
- Familiarity with HTTP, HTTP-based APIs, network namespaces, packet capture, and packet-capture interpretation.
