Responsibilities
- Own the full software development lifecycle from ideation and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing production support.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy and platform evolution.
- Explore and contribute to an agentic software development lifecycle.
- Support Balance’s rapid business growth.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Data teams, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Mentor and support fellow engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience building production-grade backend applications.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
- Significant practical experience building distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale production databases, including PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
- Experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or serverless architectures.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and design patterns.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Curiosity about and active experimentation with how AI changes the software development lifecycle.
- Frontend experience with React or similar frameworks is advantageous.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
