Responsibilities
- Design and implement clean, testable backend systems and APIs.
- Architect scalable infrastructure for high-trust requirements and production workloads.
- Champion testing, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Analyze user needs and system behavior to solve complex problems.
- Collaborate on engineering practices, technical culture, and long-term technical direction.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with production systems.
- Strong systems thinking and ability to reason about long-term architecture.
- Experience with one or more of Node.js, TypeScript, Python, Go, or Java.
- Experience designing scalable APIs and backend infrastructure for high-volume or high-trust environments.
- Production experience with relational databases, automated testing, message queues, and containerized or cloud environments such as Kubernetes and AWS.
- Clear communication, collaboration, rapid learning, and effectiveness in ambiguous environments.
- Background in fintech, payments, identity, or other regulated domains is preferred.
Benefits
- Base salary range of EUR 116,000 to EUR 146,000 annually with consistent pay across roles at the same level.
- Fully remote work within European time zones.
- Primary location is Austria.
