Senior Backend Product Engineer, Menu Operations

Responsibilities
- Design and deliver scalable backend platforms, distributed systems, and reliable internal APIs.
- Develop and maintain backend services supporting internal applications and operational workflows.
- Build automated data validation, cross-system reconciliation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and data-quality improvements.
- Operate production systems by instrumenting, monitoring, testing, tuning, and continuously improving them.
- Contribute to event-driven platform architecture using Kafka and related messaging patterns.
- Support frontend development and integration for the internal React application.
- Translate domain knowledge from engineers, analysts, planners, and business partners into maintainable system logic.
- Participate in pairing, design discussions, knowledge sharing, and shaping the future direction of the system.
Requirements
- Production proficiency with one or more backend languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, production APIs, cloud environments, and scalable architecture.
- Experience with relational databases and data systems including PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and S3.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and Kafka.
- Working knowledge of AWS, Docker, and Airflow.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Frontend experience with React or another modern frontend framework is a plus.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot beyond casual experimentation, including daily use of AI agents.
- Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, product judgment, and comfort working through ambiguity.
