Responsibilities
- Design and build REST and GraphQL APIs that expose ML models from Databricks to internal applications, CRM platforms, and enterprise systems.
- Build MCP servers that expose models and data products as structured tools for AI agents and LLM applications.
- Develop middleware for transformation, enrichment, and protocol adaptation between Databricks and downstream consumers.
- Maintain stable, documented APIs by gathering consumer feedback and iterating on integrations.
- Collaborate with ML engineers and data engineers on reliable and governed serving infrastructure.
- Build lightweight prototype applications to test, demonstrate, and validate model outputs and MCP capabilities.
- Mentor junior colleagues through code reviews and knowledge sharing while promoting clean code, version control, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Ensure security and governance standards across APIs, MCP servers, and integrations.
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive professional software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on backend development, API design, and production-grade service delivery.
- Demonstrable experience designing, building, and maintaining REST and/or GraphQL APIs, including contract design, versioning, authentication, and documentation.
- Proficiency in Python as a primary backend language, with hands-on experience building and deploying Python-based APIs using FastAPI, Flask, or similar tools.
- Experience with cloud data platforms, particularly Databricks, and understanding of serving model outputs and data products from those platforms.
- Demonstrable experience designing and building MCP servers, including defining tools and resources and managing server lifecycles.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks Model Serving, MLflow, or equivalent model registry and serving infrastructure is preferred.
- Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or AutoGen and their interaction with MCP servers is preferred.
- Experience in regulated industries such as financial services is preferred.
