Responsibilities
- Define and drive technical vision, architecture, and engineering strategy across multiple teams and domains.
- Architect and guide scalable backend services using C#, .NET Core, and Python.
- Set frontend architecture direction using React.js, Next.js, and Node.js.
- Shape cloud architecture across Azure and AWS and lead migration and modernisation initiatives.
- Improve CI/CD, automated testing, observability, monitoring, incident management, and operational reliability practices.
- Lead complex cross-team technical initiatives and resolve architectural ambiguity.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads and promote engineering excellence and knowledge sharing.
- Represent engineering in senior and executive forums and connect technical decisions to business outcomes.
- Lead improvements to engineering processes, tooling, developer productivity, and ways of working.
- Own critical technical challenges from problem definition and solution design through production delivery and operational health.
Requirements
- More than 10 years of full-stack software engineering experience and a record of delivering high-impact technical initiatives.
- Deep expertise designing and building scalable backend services using .NET and setting architectural direction across multiple teams.
- Expert knowledge of React.js, including state management, performance optimisation, micro-frontends, and component architecture at scale.
- Experience with Next.js and Node.js is highly desirable.
- Expert knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and the Kubernetes ecosystem, including secure, highly available, multi-tenant production environments.
- Deep understanding of authentication, authorisation, API security, threat modelling, and security-by-design practices.
- Extensive experience designing distributed systems using microservices, serverless, and event-driven architectures.
- Deep hands-on experience with Azure or AWS and highly available, multi-region, cost-optimised cloud platforms.
- Extensive experience designing CI/CD strategies, build systems, automated testing, and deployment practices at organisational scale.
- Strong experience with site reliability engineering principles, observability, incident management, service-level objectives, and operational maturity.
- A record of improving developer experience, engineering productivity, and tooling beyond a single team.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-organisational technical initiatives, developing senior engineering talent, and delivering measurable improvements.
- Exceptional communication, influencing, collaboration, system design, and strategic-thinking skills.
