Base Salary

$95k - $176k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the Customer Files Orchestration Service end-to-end from system design and implementation through deployment, scaling, and operation.
  • Design distributed workflows using durable state, idempotent processing, consistency models, delivery guarantees, leases, heartbeats, and asynchronous service boundaries.
  • Build fair queuing, rate limiting, backpressure, circuit breaking, dead-letter handling, and autoscaling for multi-tenant workloads.
  • Design and maintain versioned, documented, backward-compatible file and workspace APIs.
  • Participate in primary on-call, lead incident response, improve observability and tracing, and eliminate operational toil.
  • Mentor engineers through code and design reviews and collaborate with storage, extraction, indexing, connectors, and front-end teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years building production software and owning significant components of systems used by real customers.
  • Extensive production experience with AWS and Python, including Python concurrency and asyncio.
  • Production Kubernetes experience, including tuning KEDA autoscaling and resource requests and debugging production failures.
  • Experience with large-scale orchestration or data pipelines spanning multiple service boundaries and handling retries, partial failure, and long-running work.
  • Hands-on understanding of consistency models, at-least-once and exactly-once delivery, idempotency, queues, fair queuing, rate limiting, backpressure, API design, testing, observability, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience carrying operational ownership for production systems, including on-call, incident debugging, and remediation.
  • Preferred qualifications include document management systems, extraction, OCR, large files, Kafka or MSK, SQS, Temporal, Step Functions, retrieval or embedding pipelines, legal industry experience, and team topologies.
