Responsibilities
- Extract existing functionality from the monolith into standalone services using Ruby.
- Develop backend business logic and APIs for mobile and web platforms.
- Add tests, implement feature flags, and set up A/B tests for new features.
- Participate in on-call rotations, root-cause analysis, and post-mortems for critical systems.
- Monitor deployed code with Kibana, Grafana, and Datadog.
- Own SLIs and SLOs within the product team to maintain quality and reliability.
- Drive complex initiatives, identify architectural bottlenecks, and improve inefficient processes.
- Collaborate across teams to prioritize roadmaps and deliver results.
- Mentor peers and provide and receive constructive feedback.
Requirements
- Solid backend engineering experience and a proven record of owning complex projects end to end.
- Ruby experience is preferred but not required, with willingness to learn and write idiomatic Ruby.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, systems architecture, service-oriented architecture, enterprise architecture patterns, and services trade-offs.
- Ability to proactively identify technical debt and lead improvement efforts.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in English, including explaining complex topics to technical and business audiences.
- Ability to work independently, lead issue resolution, and engage in constructive professional conflict.
