Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java and Spring Boot backend services for payment capabilities.
- Build secure APIs and event-driven integrations supporting the end-to-end customer payment journey.
- Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions for distributed, scalable, and cloud-ready services.
- Translate complex business needs into maintainable technical solutions and own them through design, implementation, and production support.
- Improve automated testing, observability, production readiness, and code quality.
- Review code and technical designs, share knowledge, and collaborate with product owners, architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and platform teams.
- Use AI-assisted coding tools and engineering agents across design, development, testing, review, documentation, and troubleshooting while validating results and following security requirements.
- Support modernization of payment capabilities across the Baltics.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience designing distributed, event-driven, or high-volume transactional systems.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, microservices, APIs, and integration patterns.
- Ability to evaluate options, explain trade-offs, and make pragmatic technical decisions.
- Experience with Apache Kafka or comparable messaging technologies.
- Practical cloud experience, preferably with AWS.
- Experience with relational databases and transaction consistency.
- Understanding of secure development, automated testing, CI/CD, and observability.
- Strong practical experience with AI coding assistants and engineering agents, including validating generated results and following security requirements.
- Strong ownership, accountability, communication, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing skills.
- Fluent spoken and written English is required for Pan-Baltic work.
