Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java and Spring Boot backend services.
- Build secure REST APIs and event-driven integrations for payment capabilities.
- Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions for distributed, scalable services.
- Translate complex business needs into maintainable technical solutions.
- Own solutions throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation through production support.
- Apply engineering, architecture, development, and security best practices.
- Improve automated testing, observability, and production readiness.
- Review code and technical designs and share knowledge with other engineers.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools and agents for software design, development, testing, code review, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and platform teams.
- Support modernization of payment capabilities into scalable, cloud-ready services.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience designing distributed, event-driven, or high-volume transactional systems.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, microservices, APIs, and integration patterns.
- Ability to evaluate options, explain trade-offs, and make pragmatic design decisions.
- Experience with Kafka or comparable messaging technologies.
- Practical cloud experience, preferably AWS.
- Experience with relational databases and transaction consistency.
- Understanding of secure development, automated testing, CI/CD, and observability.
- Strong practical experience with AI coding assistants and engineering agents, including validating generated results and following security requirements.
- Strong ownership and accountability for delivered solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
- Clear communication and knowledge-sharing skills.
- Fluent spoken and written English is required for Pan-Baltic collaboration.
