Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, observe, support, and continuously improve scalable Java services, APIs, integrations, and distributed applications.
- Translate requirements into technical designs, implementation plans, and actionable engineering tasks while identifying and resolving risks, dependencies, and blockers.
- Lead technical implementation of complex features and cross-team initiatives, evaluate solution options, and guide teams toward scalable and maintainable designs.
- Review technical designs, code, database changes, automation workflows, and deployment approaches, and mentor engineers on engineering, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation practices.
- Build event-driven applications using Kafka, including producers, consumers, event handlers, asynchronous processing, schema validation, retries, timeouts, and dead-letter processing.
- Develop GitHub Actions workflows, reusable workflows, custom actions, parameterized jobs, and automation scripts for application, infrastructure, database, and environment operations.
- Design and support MongoDB and SQL Server data-access, processing, migration, validation, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning solutions.
- Deploy and operate applications in GCP and other cloud environments, including service connectivity, secrets management, deployment automation, observability, and runtime operations.
- Develop unit, integration, contract, workflow, and end-to-end tests and apply secure, performant, scalable, reliable, and supportable engineering practices.
- Participate in production readiness reviews, incident response, root-cause analysis, defect resolution, post-release stabilization, and migration or platform initiatives.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly and validate AI-generated code, designs, tests, and documentation before use.
Requirements
- Strong experience building Java backend services, REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Kafka, asynchronous processing, message delivery guarantees, and event-schema management.
- Experience with MongoDB, SQL Server, database performance tuning, data validation, and migration activities.
- Experience with GitHub Actions, reusable workflows, custom actions, CI/CD automation, or infrastructure automation.
- Strong experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or comparable scripting technologies.
- Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, containers, cloud networking, service discovery, and secrets management.
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Kibana, or Datadog.
- Experience with production support, incident management, root-cause analysis, and operational readiness.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical implementation within an Agile or Scrum team.
- Experience building enterprise SaaS products, cloud-native applications, or large-scale platform services.
- Experience using AI coding assistants, developer agents, or automation tools in the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly, collaborate across product and engineering functions, and take ownership of delivery and operational outcomes.
