Responsibilities
- Design and develop applications that process petabytes of data and millions of transactions per hour.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable, high-performance distributed platforms.
- Design and implement highly available, fault-tolerant, secure cloud-based distributed systems.
- Build message-driven and event-driven architectures using reliable asynchronous communication between distributed services.
- Implement caching strategies, distributed caching architectures, cache invalidation patterns, and session management for high-throughput applications.
- Design database schemas and optimize queries and performance across relational and NoSQL databases.
- Potentially lead software projects as a technical lead and mentor software engineers.
- Design and implement search architectures, data lake and lakehouse architectures, and backward-compatible APIs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional work experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience; longer experience is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience with Java, including concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, software design patterns, and testable, maintainable, extensible backend code.
- Experience designing, implementing, and shipping high-scale, high-performance, highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud-based distributed systems.
- Experience with messaging systems, event sourcing, CQRS patterns, and reliable asynchronous communication between distributed services.
- Experience with caching strategies and in-memory data technologies, including distributed caching and session management.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, performance tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing strategy, and query rewriting.
- Preferred experience leading software projects as a technical lead and mentoring software engineers.
- Preferred hands-on experience with GenAI coding tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Codex.
- Preferred experience with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Solr and large-scale full-text search.
- Preferred experience with data lake and lakehouse architectures, Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, Apache Hudi, S3, GCS, or ADLS.
- Preferred experience designing APIs using gRPC, GraphQL, OpenAPI, Swagger, or Protobuf, including API versioning, gateway patterns, rate limiting, and backward compatibility.
