
Principal Software Engineer - Java Backend, AVP
State StreetResponsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement complex software enhancements and solutions for Charles River IMS.
- Modify core frameworks and primary facilities critical to system operation.
- Provide technical leadership and thought leadership in product architecture and complex software problem solving.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create simple, sustainable solutions.
- Develop cloud-native services and work with microservice architectures, Kubernetes, Kafka, and message-based systems.
- Provide expert troubleshooting for mission-critical client implementations and assist customer support and other development teams.
- Conduct code reviews, write unit and automation tests, improve test methodologies, and perform manual testing.
- Coordinate cross-team activities and support the software development process through planning, standups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical field is required; a master's degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 13 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience is required.
- At least 6 years of financial-services experience developing solutions for portfolio management, trading, compliance, post-trade, IBOR, or wealth management is strongly desired.
- At least 5 years of experience working with an Agile development methodology is required.
- Authoritative experience with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases, scripting, and advanced programming languages.
- Experience designing and developing simple solutions to highly complex business and technical problems, including multi-tiered, high-performance database applications.
- Experience with cloud-native services, microservice architectures, Kubernetes, Kafka, and message-based systems; Azure and Snowflake experience are assets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers.
