Senior Software Engineer - Product-Led Growth
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end development of backend services powering eligibility, targeting, offer delivery, purchase, activation, and conversion tracking.
- Build reusable targeting, eligibility, campaign configuration, and purchase infrastructure for future growth experiments.
- Integrate with propensity scores, Toast IQ recommendations, CMS-driven campaign controls, billing, contracting, and provisioning systems.
- Build LLM-powered Toast IQ experiences from prompt and tool design through evaluation and production monitoring.
- Design experimentation and attribution instrumentation and use production data to scale or stop experiences.
- Partner with product, design, marketing, sales, and data science to turn business goals into measurable product changes.
- Contribute to technical architecture and engineering standards and mentor other engineers through reviews, pairing, and guidance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building and maintaining production backend systems in Kotlin, Java, or another object-oriented language.
- Enough full-stack experience to ship web or native front-end changes when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to own features through design, launch, measurement, and iteration.
- Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, or growth engineering and a working understanding of attribution.
- Experience building on LLMs or AI platforms in production or side projects; interest in agents and tool use is a bonus.
- Experience building customer-facing features on data products such as scores, segments, or recommendations is preferred.
- Ability to make product decisions, work across product, design, and sales, and balance speed with scale amid ambiguity.
- Proficiency with AI tooling such as Claude, Cursor, and MCP servers.
