Base Salary
$150k - $175k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, highly available services, APIs, features, and enhancements.
- Own production services end to end by monitoring performance, investigating issues, resolving bottlenecks, and improving reliability and cost efficiency.
- Lead technical design and architecture discussions while identifying and prioritizing technical debt.
- Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, establish shared engineering practices, and advocate for code quality.
- Partner with data, web, mobile, product, design, quality-assurance, and technical leadership teams to translate requirements into implementations.
- Create technical documentation and contribute to automated test coverage and feature testing.
- Analyze user stories, provide technical feedback, translate requirements into technical tasks, and estimate effort.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, or relevant industry experience.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional technology experience.
- Deep understanding of service architecture, monitoring, horizontal scalability, and production systems with service-level agreements.
- Extensive experience with object-oriented and functional software design patterns and large web application platforms.
- Experience developing and owning complex, highly available production services and applications deployed on AWS or GCP.
- Experience with containers, continuous integration, and codified infrastructure.
- Extensive experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS; some knowledge of Java and GraphQL.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and frontend frameworks such as Vue or Nuxt is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of NoSQL data stores, graph databases, indexing, distributed locking, media transformation, and search engines such as Elasticsearch or Solr.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and translating user stories into technical tasks and effort estimates.
- Experience leading architecture discussions, advocating for technical approaches, and mentoring team members.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, technical judgment, and continued-learning skills.
