Responsibilities

  • Drive firmware design, development, debugging, and verification across pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
  • Develop RTOS-based core firmware stacks providing services and frameworks for power management controller algorithms.
  • Help define Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability solutions for future Qualcomm CPUs.
  • Contribute processor architecture support, device drivers, and firmware features to open source communities.
  • Collaborate on silicon and platform bring-up, debugging, and diagnostics with hardware and firmware teams.
  • Help identify skills requirements and participate in hiring engineers.
  • Engage with third parties on new platform enablement and provide input to SoC and platform architects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus 4+ years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master's degree plus 3+ years or a PhD plus 2+ years.
  • At least 2 years of experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Preferred qualifications include a BS/BEng in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience, with 8 years of embedded firmware development experience.
  • Familiarity with error reporting and manageability requirements on datacenter server platforms.
  • Familiarity with ARM RAS, ARM CPU RAS extensions, SDEI, APEI, and UEFI CPER specifications.
  • Proficiency writing and debugging C and assembly.
  • Driver development experience in RTOS or OS kernel environments.
  • Embedded operating-system development experience with Zephyr, eCos, uC/OS, or FreeRTOS.
  • Experience developing and debugging in pre-silicon environments, including simulators and FPGA emulation.
  • Experience defining interprocessor communication interfaces between embedded controllers and platforms.
  • Familiarity with ARMv8 architecture and preferably development experience on ARMv8 platforms.
  • Ability to take initiative and provide technical leadership.
