Responsibilities
- Develop performance-optimized ABAP solutions for SAP HANA using database pushdown, efficient data models, CDS views, associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.
- Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP and SQLScript and apply modern ABAP, clean architecture, testing, and secure coding practices.
- Build stable, versioned services and APIs using OData and contract-first service design patterns.
- Create reusable enterprise data artifacts supporting transactional, analytical, UI, integration, and AI retrieval use cases.
- Build AI-enabled SAP experiences with LLM integration, tool-calling orchestration, retrieval-grounded outputs, deterministic fallbacks, prompts, tool schemas, and context assembly.
- Develop automated ABAP and AI quality processes, including unit, integration, contract, regression, scenario-based, and offline golden-dataset testing.
- Implement AI guardrails including authorization-aware context filtering, redaction, action confirmations, audit logs, and online monitoring for drift and regressions.
- Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces; design retries, idempotency, correlation IDs, safe failure modes, runbooks, and structured diagnostics.
- Integrate SAP HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, cloud runtimes, enterprise integration platforms, event-driven patterns, and API gateways.
- Collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams to prototype, demonstrate, and evolve solutions into scalable production systems.
Requirements
- At least 7.5 years of professional experience is required.
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
- Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling, including associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown.
- Strong software engineering discipline with clean design, testing, production readiness, performance benchmarking, load testing, and query-plan-driven tuning.
- Experience building AI-native capabilities involving LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Knowledge of OData and service design, API lifecycle management, contract-first development, SAP backend integration, cloud runtimes, and enterprise integration platforms is strongly beneficial.
- Knowledge of SAP security, authorizations, compliance requirements, and sensitive enterprise data handling is beneficial.
- The role focuses on building AI behaviors and does not center on training or fine-tuning foundation models from scratch.
