Responsibilities
- Own team-level projects and major features, including architecture, delivery strategy, coordination, and measurable business outcomes.
- Lead technical standards for database changes, code review, testing, logging, deployments, and incident response.
- Guide architectural decisions and incremental modernization strategies for complex legacy systems.
- Lead production incidents involving financial, inventory, or shipping data, including root-cause analysis, recovery, and prevention.
- Establish database governance covering schema compatibility, multi-customer testing, and safe migration procedures.
- Mentor and train developers in SQL Server, transaction design, prioritization, risk assessment, and incident response.
- Review critical-system code for business correctness, transaction safety, concurrency, and testability.
- Diagnose systemic engineering issues and improve team effectiveness.
- Collaborate with product, QA, customer success, and business leadership.
- Establish team-wide standards for AI-assisted development, evaluate AI tools, and ensure appropriate validation of AI-generated work.
Requirements
- Experience building or leading large production systems serving millions of transactions or thousands of concurrent users.
- Deep familiarity with an enterprise system such as an ERP, financial platform, or high-volume transaction-processing system.
- Production incident response experience, including post-mortems and blameless investigations.
- Experience designing multi-tenant or multi-customer deployments with schema and configuration variation.
- Experience leading database migrations on large production tables and understanding zero-downtime deployment strategies.
- Experience mentoring multiple junior and mid-level engineers and demonstrating impact on their growth.
- Experience setting or improving code review, testing, deployment, and incident-response practices.
- Communication of technical concepts through speaking, writing, or community contributions.
- Preferred proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or AWS Security Specialty are preferred.
