Responsibilities
- Serve as the single cross-domain technical authority for architecture decisions across Payments Core, Merchant, and Consumer platform areas.
- Partner with the Head of Engineering and business leadership to translate business strategy into technical roadmap input.
- Author Architecture Decision Records and RFCs for organisation-wide decisions in a format accessible to engineers and business stakeholders.
- Own, design, instrument, and continuously improve the organisation-wide agentic engineering harness using production data.
- Drive adoption or deprecation of architectural patterns across teams and sequence change without direct authority.
- Mentor Staff Engineers and Engineering Managers on architecture, technical communication, and agentic tooling.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in cross-team technical leadership or architecture authority.
- 5+ years designing distributed payments or fintech systems.
- 3+ years of production agentic or LLM engineering experience involving shipped systems.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems architecture, including event sourcing, CQRS, domain events, and saga patterns.
- Experience designing REST, asynchronous, and event-based APIs at organisational boundaries.
- Strong understanding of database trade-offs and cloud architecture evaluation across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Hands-on experience with multi-agent orchestration, tool-use patterns, context management, and evaluation harnesses for AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Excellent technical writing for mixed engineering and business audiences, including ADRs and RFCs.
- English proficiency at B2 level or above.
- University degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Preferred qualifications include platform or internal developer tooling experience, PCI DSS or PSD2 architecture compliance experience, BNPL or lending architecture experience, open-source contributions or technical publishing, internal developer platform experience, formal mentorship of Staff-level or EM-track engineers, and Polish language skills.
