Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Assess on-premises infrastructure and applications for migration requirements, target architecture, and compute and cost estimates.
- Design and implement cloud-native application architectures that meet Federal security and operational requirements.
- Perform cloud resource right-sizing and implement AWS tagging strategies for cost allocation, billing, and chargeback or showback reporting.
- Implement cloud security, configuration monitoring, compliance auditing, IAM policy management, and vulnerability assessment practices.
- Build dashboards and reporting for infrastructure health, cost, security posture, and performance using Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS monitoring services.
- Collaborate with architecture, operations, security, data center, and product development teams on cloud-native solutions.
- Maintain network diagrams, runbooks, support procedures, and cloud and on-premises operational documentation.
- Monitor network availability, capacity utilization, and system performance against SLAs and quality-of-service objectives.
- Define and drive adoption of architectural patterns, cloud performance measurement, migration methodologies, and implementation best practices.
- Advise Federal agency leadership on cloud strategy, options analysis, and alignment with strategic plans.
- Apply operational metrics, observability, and site reliability engineering practices.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional experience across cloud engineering projects.
- At least 5 years of hands-on AWS experience, including EKS, ECS, S3, KMS, Secrets Manager, API Gateway, CloudFront, VPC, EC2, RDS, SQS, SNS, Security Groups, and NACLs.
- Ability to lead cloud projects end-to-end with minimal supervision and design highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems.
- Working knowledge of a modern programming language such as Python, JavaScript, Go, .NET, or Java.
- Hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation, plus Docker, Kubernetes, and YAML configuration experience.
- At least 5 years of developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, SonarQube, and Artifactory or Nexus.
- Strong UNIX/Linux administration and shell scripting skills.
- Knowledge of cloud security, firewall management, network security controls, AWS Config, AWS Trusted Advisor, and AWS resource tagging standards.
- Experience implementing continuous monitoring and logging and building dashboards for technical and executive stakeholders using Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent tools.
- Experience with Federal agency or large-enterprise cloud strategy, procurement, migration, performance measurement, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience advising IT leadership and C-suite executives and conducting open-source research, policy analysis, and data analysis.
- Preferred experience includes AWS GovCloud, FISMA controls, CIS benchmark hardening, additional cloud certifications, and AI/ML-enabled cloud operations.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience; a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Operations Management, or a related field is also specified.
- Cloud certification from a major provider, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, and Agile/Scrum certification or equivalent experience are preferred.
- Must be eligible to obtain a public trust clearance.
