Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain core game engine systems, including memory management, asset loading, threading, and runtime performance.
  • Build and improve internal tools and build systems supporting the full development lifecycle across a distributed team.
  • Profile and optimize performance-critical code paths on target platforms.
  • Collaborate with gameplay engineers, artists, and technical designers to improve engine systems.
  • Establish engineering best practices for systems-level code quality, testing, and documentation.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps and architecture decisions focused on maintainability and scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful work with game engine systems, runtime infrastructure, or low-level tooling.
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++ and systems-level performance analysis and debugging.
  • Hands-on experience with build systems such as CMake or Bazel and CI/CD pipelines in a game or real-time software context.
  • Deep understanding of memory management, multithreading, and platform-level constraints.
  • Experience shipping products on at least one major PC, console, or mobile platform.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex systems tradeoffs to technical and non-technical collaborators.
  • Preferred qualifications include educational technology, learning management systems, adaptive learning, game engine programming, cloud platforms, DevOps practices, mobile game development, data analytics or AI/ML applications, accessibility, open source, published games or educational applications, and AR/VR technologies.
