
Lead Software Engineer - Observability & Platform Health Monitoring

Responsibilities
- Develop, troubleshoot, review, and debug secure, high-quality production software.
- Lead responsible adoption and validation standards for enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Automate recurring issue remediation and improve the operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Own the architecture and multi-quarter technical roadmap for a multi-service observability platform running on Kubernetes.
- Maintain shared internal library contracts, versioning strategies, and consumer migration plans.
- Design distributed SQL and Oracle data schemas, queries, migration tooling, and production rollback strategies.
- Define standards for platform metrics, logs, traces, meaningful signals, alerts, and dashboards.
- Lead evaluations of vendors, startups, and internal teams and assess architectural designs and technical applicability.
- Translate platform evidence and control requirements for leadership, control partners, internal audit, and regulators.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and validating their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, security, and compliant engineering practices.
- Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle and advanced understanding of application resiliency and security practices.
- In-depth knowledge of financial-services industry IT systems and practical cloud-native experience.
- Advanced observability experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus-compatible metric backends, Splunk, and Grafana.
- Production experience with Kubernetes and Helm in a regulated enterprise environment.
- Experience with distributed SQL such as CockroachDB or another Postgres-compatible distributed database, advanced SQL, and migration tooling such as Liquibase.
- Working knowledge of Identity and Access Management concepts, entitlements, certifications, provisioning, revocation, and SCIM.
- Experience building systems consumed by internal audit, regulators, or formal control frameworks.
