Responsibilities
- Build and iterate on production search, chatbot, and agentic workflow features through daily coding and code review.
- Develop retrieval pipelines using hybrid search, re-ranking, chunking, and embedding strategies for conversational AI systems.
- Implement agentic workflow components including tool use, orchestration, error recovery, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
- Troubleshoot latency, reliability, observability, and other systems issues in non-deterministic AI applications.
- Contribute to technical standards, design patterns, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with product, business, and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of hands-on software engineering experience building production systems at scale, with exposure to search, conversational AI, or workflow automation.
- Proficiency in Python, API design, and microservices architecture.
- Working understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations, including prompt engineering, context management, output parsing, and using models as application components.
- Experience with retrieval systems, conversational AI, or agentic architectures such as tool calling, planning, and orchestration.
- Awareness of latency, throughput, cost efficiency, and graceful degradation concerns.
- Experience using AWS cloud services for production applications.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred experience includes LLM evaluation and testing frameworks, RAG patterns, agent orchestration, regulated environments, model governance, and explainability requirements.
