Responsibilities

  • Define and implement observability strategies, standards, and governance across applications and platforms.
  • Design and maintain monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and reporting using Dynatrace or equivalent platforms.
  • Establish SRE practices covering SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, symptom-based alerting, and reliability governance.
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to improve system reliability, performance, and operational maturity.
  • Develop standards for tagging, ownership, dashboard design, access management, and alerting governance.
  • Coach teams without specialized observability expertise and provide knowledge transfer.
  • Lead technical workstreams, prioritize initiatives, and ensure delivery within timelines and budgets.
  • Analyze distributed systems and troubleshoot production issues using monitoring and tracing data.
  • Promote documentation, operational rigor, and continuous improvement across distributed engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Significant Site Reliability Engineering experience in large-scale production environments.
  • Deep understanding of SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and symptom-based alerting.
  • Expertise with enterprise observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic, or AppDynamics.
  • Strong experience with APM, RUM, monitoring agents, instrumentation, alerting strategies, RBAC, SLO management, tagging, and governance models.
  • Strong knowledge of OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing in composable, microservices-based architectures.
  • Hands-on production experience with AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with infrastructure and operational automation, including Terraform, Bash scripting, and Python scripting.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI or equivalent pipeline and workflow platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and workstreams in complex operational and agile environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English.
  • Experience monitoring and supporting Java Spring Boot applications, e-commerce platforms, high-transaction environments, enterprise observability frameworks, or consulting engagements is preferred.

  • Salary range of $100,000–$150,000 CAD annually, depending on experience and location.
