Responsibilities
- Build and operate scalable, reliable, real-time backend services using Node.js/TypeScript with some Python.
- Design, evaluate, and ship LLM-based features involving prompt engineering, tool calling, structured outputs, guardrails, and fallback strategies.
- Build evaluation datasets and scorers, track regressions, and make evidence-based release decisions for AI features.
- Deploy and operate cloud-native services on Kubernetes across AWS, Azure, or GCP and evolve GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
- Design data models, manage PostgreSQL migrations, and optimize connection pooling, indexing, and queries for real-time workloads.
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; debug distributed production systems and contribute to secure architecture decisions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable and resilient systems with Node.js/TypeScript, plus some Python.
- Hands-on production experience building LLM-based features, including prompting, tool calling, structured outputs, evaluation frameworks, and real-world failure handling.
- Production experience deploying and operating Kubernetes services on at least one major cloud provider, with solid CI/CD practices.
- Strong testing, debugging, microservices, distributed-systems, and code-quality skills.
- Fluent English and the ability to collaborate and own work end-to-end from design through production.
- Preferred experience with speech pipelines, ASR, TTS, streaming audio, voice agents, event-driven architectures, message brokers, and PostgreSQL.
- Interest in telephony and real-time communication technologies such as SIP, RTP, or WebRTC is helpful but not required.
