Responsibilities
- Lead frontend development for Base’s web and mobile customer applications.
- Set frontend architecture and technical strategy across multiple product surfaces and define shared patterns, tooling, and standards.
- Own major product surfaces end-to-end from concept through production and iteration, including systems architected from scratch.
- Collaborate with backend engineers on APIs and data models and translate complex energy systems into intuitive user experiences.
- Partner with product and design on roadmap development and high-impact features.
- Improve frontend engineering standards and developer experience, including build tooling, testing, and component architecture.
- Mentor engineers, raise frontend quality, and lead cross-team architecture initiatives.
- Use analytics and experimentation to improve the member experience.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building production frontend or full-stack software.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript and modern web frameworks such as React or Next.js.
- Experience designing frontend architecture for complex web applications and systems used by other engineers or teams.
- Track record of owning products or platforms from concept through launch and iteration, including at least one system architected from scratch.
- Ability to work across the stack and collaborate with backend engineers on APIs and data models.
- Strong product judgment and ability to translate complex systems into simple user experiences.
- Experience with product analytics, experimentation, and data-informed decision-making.
- Technical depth in frontend areas such as performance, state management, cross-platform architecture, and design systems.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction beyond the immediate team.
- First-principles thinking, grit, and a bias toward shipping.
