Base Salary
$230k - $262k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers supporting ATM, branch, cafe, kiosk, hardware, middleware, and physical customer-experience platforms.
- Design and implement large-scale, distributed, cloud-native, full-stack systems with high reliability, scalability, performance, and security requirements.
- Integrate third-party technologies and vendor platforms into Capital One’s first-party technology stack.
- Serve as an approving architect and provide technical leadership on system designs, secure patterns, network stacks, hardware integration, and long-term technology direction.
- Define platform roadmaps, shared-services strategies, technical requirements, and enterprise-wide standards with product, operations, architecture, vendors, and design engineering teams.
- Build solutions bridging front-end, back-end, and operating systems using languages such as Java, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional technical initiatives while evaluating vendor capabilities and managing technical vendor relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative field such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics, or engineering.
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred qualifications include 7+ years of full-stack experience across front-end, back-end, and operating systems and 4+ years integrating third-party or vendor platforms.
- Preferred experience includes 4+ years in network architecture, hardware or physical technology experiences, system design, and public cloud technologies.
- Preferred experience includes 2+ years of mobile application development and technical vendor relationship management.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with interactive AI tooling, cross-functional engineering leadership, coding standards and design patterns, and observability and reliability practices at scale.

- Full-time annual salary ranges vary by location: $229,900-$262,400 in McLean, VA and $209,000-$238,500 in Richmond, VA.
