Responsibilities

Build backend services, APIs, data models, and internal applications supporting grading and authentication operations.
Design and implement event-driven, asynchronous, and distributed systems that move operational data reliably at high volume.
Work across containerized .NET applications, serverless APIs, and Python background processing jobs.
Develop frontend features using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and Vue.js.
Translate Product and Operations requirements into extensible technical designs across backend and frontend systems.
Troubleshoot data, integration, service, and user-interface issues in a large codebase.
Participate in an on-call rotation and improve system design, observability, documentation, maintainability, and code quality.
Use AI tooling routinely in software design, architecture, and implementation while owning the quality of shipped work.

5+ years of software engineering experience building production applications, including substantial backend experience and some frontend delivery.
3+ years of experience or strong proficiency in C# and .NET.
Routine use of AI tooling and the judgment to review and take responsibility for generated output.
Experience designing and building APIs and service integrations.
Experience defining application module boundaries and determining when capabilities should become separate services.
Experience writing and maintaining automated tests for production services.
Strong relational database and data-modeling fundamentals, including SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
Hands-on experience operating production cloud services, including container orchestration, serverless compute, API gateways, and managed messaging and data stores.
Comfort with modern frontend development using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and a component-based framework.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and observability tooling.
Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and requirements-translation skills.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Preferred experience with asynchronous, event-driven, and distributed systems; AWS, Python, pytest, unittest, Apache Kafka, DynamoDB, or Vue.js; close Product and Operations partnership; and optimizing high-volume workflows.
