Responsibilities
- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of scalable APIs, services, and accessibility-first user interfaces.
- Modernize legacy systems into modular, event-driven, API-first components.
- Deliver AI-native features across front-end and back-end systems using multiple programming languages.
- Make technical decisions and trade-offs related to scalability, maintainability, performance, and product impact.
- Own application reliability and operational excellence, including telemetry, SLOs, error budgets, on-call rotations, incident response, and continuous service improvement.
- Champion application-level DevOps, deployment automation, monitoring, and operational practices while collaborating with Platform Engineers.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering standards, documentation, automated testing, security, performance, and maintainability.
- Partner with Product Management, Design, AI, Platform Engineering, and other engineering teams on discovery, architecture, and delivery.
- Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities to improve platform architecture and engineering practices.
Requirements
- Strong full-stack software engineering experience across front-end and back-end development.
- Strong experience with React or similar modern front-end frameworks.
- Strong back-end engineering experience, ideally including Go or comparable general-purpose programming languages.
- Experience designing and building scalable APIs, services, and cloud-native applications.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including deployment, monitoring, automation, and incident response.
- Experience delivering secure, observable, high-quality production software.
- Strong focus on code quality, automated testing, documentation, performance, and maintainability.
- Ability to lead technical design discussions and influence architectural decisions.
- Effective collaboration across Product, Design, Platform, and Engineering teams.
- Ability to own outcomes from design through production.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP is desirable.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, distributed systems, or microservices is desirable.
- Experience modernizing legacy systems into modular, scalable platforms is desirable.
- Experience in cross-functional product teams and mentoring engineers is desirable.
- Experience with AI-enabled, data-intensive, sustainability, carbon intelligence, or enterprise SaaS products is desirable.
- Familiarity with observability, reliability engineering, SLOs, error budgets, and production incident management is desirable.
