Responsibilities
- Design and build AI platform features including agent tool systems, prompt pipelines, integration APIs, and edge-deployed services.
- Develop agentic AI capabilities such as tool calling, context management, multi-step workflows, confidence-based routing, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
- Build scope-aware tools that expose orders, inventory, and knowledge-base capabilities safely to AI agents.
- Design fault-tolerant integrations with downstream services and support graceful degradation.
- Own features end-to-end from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and production monitoring.
- Implement prompt engineering patterns, evaluation frameworks, and observability for LLM-powered systems.
- Integrate machine-learning model outputs through API layers and collaborate with Data Scientists on integration boundaries.
- Contribute to architecture, design documentation, code reviews, technical discussions, and reusable engineering patterns.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and identify technical risks and quality improvements.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and other product engineering teams on AI feature adoption.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of production experience with TypeScript and the ability to own significant portions of a TypeScript codebase.
- Experience building and shipping LLM-powered or agentic features in production, including prompt engineering, tool or function calling, and context management.
- Experience building stateful or highly available distributed services; Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects, or similar edge-runtime experience is a plus.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs, OpenAPI specifications, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong SQL fundamentals and experience with D1, SQLite, PostgreSQL, or similar persistence technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Cloudflare, GCP, or AWS and understanding of serverless and edge deployment models.
- Experience instrumenting production systems with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar observability tools.
- Strong ownership, communication, collaboration, production reliability, learning agility, and technical judgment when using AI-assisted development tools.
- Elixir/Phoenix experience, Cloudflare developer-platform experience, Anthropic Claude or AI SDK experience, Model Context Protocol familiarity, logistics or e-commerce knowledge, WebSocket experience, scope-based authorization or multi-tenant systems experience, and open-source contributions are preferred.
