Responsibilities
- Design and develop infotainment applications on Rivian and Volkswagen Group Android-based operating systems.
- Create modular, scalable software, reusable design patterns, and libraries for multiple products and use cases.
- Lead software design processes and collaborate with developers on technical issues, design choices, and decisions.
- Collaborate with product and UI/UX design teams to define application features.
- Identify and resolve application bottlenecks and optimize performance.
- Perform code reviews and apply continuous integration and development practices.
- Write test code to support quality, robustness, and functional correctness.
- Design and implement application updates and releases.
- Investigate the AOSP codebase to improve application performance and integration.
- Develop sample and demonstration applications using company technology.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship through guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Continue professional development through learning, workshops, conferences, and talks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience developing Android applications.
- Proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and fundamental C++.
- Proficiency with Android and Android Jetpack APIs, including Android NDK and JNI.
- Knowledge of the Android lifecycle and application interface guidelines.
- Preferred familiarity with Android performance and testing frameworks, Android framework services, push notifications, APIs, and cloud messaging.
- Preferred experience developing multimedia and Bluetooth solutions.
- Preferred prior experience developing on-vehicle technology.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with and influence cross-functional teams.
