Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a globally distributed quality group and its testing efforts for EMS and GMS software applications.
  • Plan testing approaches and test-data creation using business requirements, solution designs, and functional specifications.
  • Design and develop functional and non-functional use cases and test cases aligned with business objectives and requirements.
  • Create test plans and strategies for SCADA, EMS, and GMS applications.
  • Maintain and execute test scripts using test management tools and report testing progress and status.
  • Identify, track, investigate, reproduce, and verify issues found during testing in collaboration with the product development team.
  • Develop automated test scripts, including application programming interface and user interface code, as well as manual test scripts.
  • Provide feedback on product limitations and testing challenges and contribute throughout the full product life cycle.
  • Train and mentor others in software testing and proven testing methodologies.
  • Lead quality initiatives that improve software quality, reduce risks, and increase customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience with Energy Management Systems, Generation Management Systems, and SCADA systems is preferred.
  • Understanding of power-system applications such as state estimation, network modeling, short-circuit analysis, and fault location is preferred.
  • Experience with Zephyr Scale, Jira, and Azure DevOps for maintaining and executing test procedures is required.
  • Knowledge of QA testing principles and experience building automated tests with tools such as Visual Studio, NUnit, TestNG, or Playwright.
  • Programming experience with C# and Java.
  • Knowledge of and certification in AI tools such as CoPilot is preferred.
  • Diversified knowledge of engineering, electric utilities, and related functions.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality assurance programs, procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions and make quality decisions that may significantly affect contracts.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization permitting them to work for Hitachi Energy.
