Senior Product Engineer

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship applications from concept through public launch, owning end-to-end product components or focused frontend, backend, mobile, or data-pipeline components.
- Prototype rapidly, iterate on MVPs and pilots, and make pragmatic tradeoffs among scope, quality, timing, and reliability.
- Build integrations with government APIs, flat-file feeds, open data portals, and legacy systems.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, researchers, policy teams, agency staff, and legal counsel on product decisions, user research, design reviews, prioritization, and translating regulations into product logic.
- Coordinate hosting, performance testing, accessibility audits, and security reviews to meet city production standards.
- Create technical documentation, runbooks, and architecture notes; develop reusable patterns, components, and infrastructure.
- Contribute to code reviews, mentorship, onboarding, engineering culture, and other assigned initiatives.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or a related field plus six years of satisfactory related experience; alternatively, a baccalaureate degree in any field plus ten years of related experience.
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the stated qualification paths may be accepted.
- Relevant experience includes enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, network architecture, and/or IT infrastructure systems.
