Base Salary
$104k - $141k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and support COBOL applications for annuity servicing, policy maintenance, and policy administration.
- Analyze business requirements, system behavior, and production issues to deliver reliable solutions for complex policy administration processes.
- Support modernization by integrating mainframe applications with APIs, data services, event-driven patterns, and distributed technologies.
- Provide technical leadership, troubleshoot complex software issues, conduct code reviews, and contribute to engineering practices, templates, and frameworks.
- Promote use of CI/CD processes, participate in the team support rotation, and help improve software stability, scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
- Mentor junior engineers, provide domain expertise, participate in planning and work decomposition, and help remove technical roadblocks.
- Contribute to technology vendor selection, proofs of concept, recruiting interviews, and development of interview processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another technical field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 7 years of experience in engineering environments developing detailed software engineering plans from abstract concepts.
- At least 7 years of experience developing and supporting COBOL-based applications in enterprise environments.
- Experience with JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and batch processing.
- Knowledge of SDLC practices, version and revision control, systems design, security and stability concepts, and complex debugging and log analysis.
- Experience querying databases for complex data lookups and updates and performing code reviews.
- Preferred experience includes financial services, life insurance or annuities, policy administration systems, and DXC insurance platforms such as wmA.
- Preferred experience includes hybrid mainframe and distributed architectures, APIs, event-driven integration patterns, cloud-enabled solutions, and Agile software delivery environments.
